tips on how to paint parts of car?

can I get a nice looking paint from a spray can? (they do have car colors right?)

I want to repaint the roof of my fastback what kind of tips do you guys have to making it look good? Is it possible to make it look semi professional with the right technique?

yes, make sure you hold the can(s) upright and do not over shake. hang parts to be painted vertically so there is no need to tilt the can. hold the can aproximatley 1.5-1 ft away from part(s). do many many many thin coats (do not try to not waste the paint by holding close) proper prep is nessisary aswell, make sure you sand and prime all metal parts. after paint and primer, apply 3-4 coats of clear coat. wet sand for an even finish, then buff with rubbing compound then wax. it should look semi profesional. make sure when you spray the parts to spray past them and keep the paint flowing. i would reccomend that you buy automotive grade spray paint and not in a dark color. hope this helps you out.
