you know the usual, just follow the Factory removal procedure to break the bolts free and remove the head. Becareful with the butter soft aluminium.
.....yeah and your gonna have to fully dismantle the valvetrain to get the head off, thats such a bummer. Other than that it should be cake for you.

dismantle the valvetrain and keep everything in order!!!

there are little shims that need to be removed on the top of each valve spring. do not get these out of order.

dont forget to put the two long gold 10mm bolts back in (inside the chain area) before you put the cams back in.

dont forget your torque procedure for the head

pay attention to TDC and cam timing. set the motor at TDC before disassembly. TDC is 2nd mark from the left on the crank pulley and cam lobes facing out. pull the valve cover and note the position of the cam gears in relation to the amount of chain links/pins. this isnt like a honda where each gear has a mark that coresponds with the other gear. DO NOT GO BY THE SHINY LINKS!!! go by chain link count!

this is what i drew up. live it. learn it. love it.

the shims are matched pairs. if mixed up, they can cause as little of an effect as valvetrain noise, and as bad as rocker arm failure.

its also easy to know the orientation (groved or flat) bc the rocker arm is notched for the grooved one.

BUT, if you start off laying the valvetrain out on a table in the same manor it was sitting in the head, then you shouldnt have a problem!
do it once, do it right.

Also a good idea to replace your head bolts or go to ARP studs

yea, unless ur doing crazy motor work i would recommend using oem head studs that way you dont have to take it apart and re-torque them again

...and it might not be a bad idea to have the head milled to ensure a better seal once it is all done. It's not mandatory but hey, it dosen't hurt.
