and can sumonee xplain in detail the autozone scam real quiclk?? im confused ont hat too
you just need the calipers and brake lines. get the lines from:

www.splparts.com

then take your calipers on the S14 to autozone saying that you need the 30mm aluminum calipers from a Z32. DON'T tell them you have a 240sx. just bull**** with them and they more than likely won't notice.

the IF ones are for Z32 (either front or rear) and the banjo are for stock.

actually...about the story. say you need them...once you get them (the ones from autozone) return a few days later with the core (old ones) for the money back.

best bet ask them how they do their policy on that. i have heard conflicting stories so ask first then do it.

i think the key is to sound like a smarta$$ and not an a$$hole.....i try to be informative, but when you come across something that seems so OBVIOUS it's hard not to make a smarta$$ comment.

anyway. i just did the front brakes with 30mm 300ZX iron calipers and SPL SS brakelines. bought a 300ZX MC but tried the brakes with my stock MC and it feels DAMN fine. so i took the 300ZX MC back. very easy swap.

and here's to scam boys:

1) visit this thread. i've thoroughly listed a parts list and where to get the parts:

http://www.club240.com/forums/showth...5&pagenumber=1

2) go to autozone.
2) purchase 300ZX calipers with cash and a fake name for the warranty. pay core
3) go home
4) complete your conversion
5) clean up your stock 240SX single piston caliper.
6) wait until a VERY busy saturday/sunday to take the stock 240 caliper back in the core box.
7) make small talk with the return guy.
8) cross your fingers and hope he doesn't check the box.
9) get your core money back in cash.
10) get the hell out of there and don't go back to that same autozone.
11) enjoy your brakes and trash talking on the internet.

hope this explains things.

No seems like you have it under control.

Why try and risk instead of just buying the whole package??

well, i guess the risk is that you won't get your core money back which is at most $100-$110, so for ~$240 after tax is what you will pay for 2 rebuilt 300ZX calipers from autozone. i think a much better purchase then junkyard units that may be in questionable shape.

i was thinking about getting the whole kit from Heavythrottle. Aluminum kit is $600 for the whole package. Its come with everything tho, calipers, rotors (drilled for 4 lug), pads( i don't think they are very good tho), brake lines, and all necessary hardware(not positive tho). so for roughly ~$350 more i can get everything and also be a law biding citizen...

What do you get for the extra 350 that makes you a law biding citizen? I only ask cause i am planning on getting the front and rear kit from heavy throttle which is only 850 or 800 depending on if i get iron or not.

if you just came into this thread, some guys are talking about scamming autozone and pretty much stealing ~$100 from them. If i get the heavy throttly kit, i won't be stealing from anyone.
