Well It might do a little bit, and no they aren't solid bars, they are usually drilled hollow and treadded all the way through. they are shiney though, so if thats your thing, its not like alot of tension or compression would be put on the bar, so aluminum or steel would be fine. Even really hard driving would never break one of those bars, they are inside, and there is no suspension or anthign really attached there.... huh. seems like i just conviced myself ! Pointless dont waste your money.

I got a free ebay rear floor bar for my hatch. There is a great difference of support from the bar. How can i tell? There are huge speed bumps at my work, i'm talking massive. Luckily, i can creep over them... But now, some times i get stuck and have to roll back down cause the car gets some mad 3 wheel motion and with no LSD one wheel just spins : )

Soo, i ordered a c-pillar for $30 on Ebay and i'll let you guys know what i think.

Floor bar...well worth the money. I did notice a big difference when I put one of those on. It stiffened the middle of my car and I lost a lot of the creeks and sounds that I use to hear when driving. Like the floor bar and it was cheap.

The two braces on the side of the floor bar mount to the stock seat belt mounts on the side of the floor board...easy install and well worth it.

You have to flip some of the brackets around to lengthen or shorten the span of the bar. I connected them from the rear upper seat belt mount to the strut mounts. To make them cross, one has to mount to the forward bolt and one has to connect to the rear bolt on top of the strut mounts.

As for the performance, i did a lot of things at once. I added a floor bar as well. It made a noticable difference, when i'm going over huge speed bumps at work, i get three wheel motion which i never got before. When the car is up on jacks it is a lot more rigid as well. That is the only raw evidence i have for effected performance, but i'm sure the car will perform better once i get the chance to open it up.

did you have to cut the carpet to fit the floor bar?

If you have nice interior and you want it to fit right then you cut the carpet where the bolts go through to the seat belt mounts on the side of the floor pan but if you have ratty interior like me then you just pull it up on the side and let it dangle.
