Welding soulds like it would be a good idea. Does welding the subframe to the chassis create any issues w/ working on the car afterwards? While the car was up, I was looking at the diff 'cuz I'll probably remove that someday if I decide to put an LSD in there. I haven't reviewed the service manual on how to remove the final drive but does it require unbolting of the subframe?
you don't remove the subframe if you want to change the diff out.

Is the removal of the diff fairly simple and straight forward? Could a pumpkin be swaped out in less than an hour, assuming that the car is already on jackstands and all tools are ready and available?

I'm just wondering in the event that I would like to have a pumpkin loaded w/ an open or VLSD and one w/ a clutch-type LSD. In a sense, like having a diff for the street and one set-up for the track.

Yes, if you have air tools or big muscles.

Luckily I have airtools, since I lack the other.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll be looking for VLSD some time in the near future to give it a try.
