Question about brakes.
Question about brakes.
i'm thinkin about getting some brembo's all around. i have a few questions tho
on the brembo website it asks for the lug and it says that the 240 4lug is from 1994-1998...and 89-94 must be 5 lug?
the thing is i have a 95...and it's got 5 lug wheels on it? 1995 LE...factory 16inch rims....so would i wanna go with the brakes for the 89-94? or is this a completely different lug they are talkin about?
also....which is better and why? cross drilled or slotted?
drilled looks nicr in my opinion but i think i remember reading something about the drive cracking or warping easier ? i don't know...so which is better and an explanation why would be greatly appreciated...
thanks in advance.

1) 89-94 240's only came in 4 lug no matter what options or what country u lived in.
2) Brembos are really expensive and since you have 5 lug you can just upgrade to Z32 300ZX brakes for about 1/4 of the price of Brembos check out www.pdm-racing.com.
3) cross drilled dissipate heat faster than slotted but also have a higher chance of warping or cracking due to the holes in the rotor already. If you r driving this on the street go for the slotted and the track only go for the Cross drilled. The cross drilled are also lighter (about .5 LBS per wheel) and some people will tell you that weight savings on your rotating mass will help ur accel and decell. (i doubt it)
I think Z32 will fit under your wheels (i know they fir under some stock16's) and most Brenbos will not unless you go for the OEM Size?

thanks for the excellent informative reply
i'm thinking about brembo's because i am gonna build this car up from the ground....i'm gonna redo everything and make it one hell of an amazing machine....but i haven't seen any pricing for brembo's as of yet. i don't plan on keeping these wheels either....but i will need something that will fit under these because i am planning on using them for the winters here in canada.
whats the average brembo brake setup go for? rotors and calipers and all...i need steel braided brake lines and all the good stuff.

to fit under ur stock 16's
i dunno but the bigbrake for the 300zx (and 5 lug 240's) is about 3000 USD they will NOT fit under your 16's. Z32 stock ones will if you get 26MM calipers. they work awsome on 240's. get calipers and rotors and steel lines and you should be good to go

I have no idea about the pricing =/ that's like the only question I forgot about out of the 892374892934 questions I asked them
