rear brake issue

rear brake issue
I was driving down the road the other day and I heard a metal on metal sound so I checked my brakes, and my left rear pads were worn down to the metal backing. I checked the right side assuming it would be the same but there was plenty of pad left on them. I went ahead and changed both sides with new pads thinking that would fix my problem, but then it appeared that the left rear caliper was messed up. I put the new pads on for the time being to test it out and the car drives and stops fine, but the pads smoke. What could this be? Do I need new rear calipers? If so, how much is the z32 upgrade? Thanks a lot.

check your ebrake lever on the caliper - if the lever is at a 45 degree angle (compared to the ground) then your left rear caliper will work opposite when you use your Ebrake. In other words - Ebrake down, left caliper locked / Ebrake up, left caliper unlocked.
Sounds weird, but it's true. Might explain why you have uneven wear on the rear pads.
Also, your slider pins might be seized.
Just pulling stuff off the top of my head...

I have a very similar problem with mine. My driver side rear brake was worn to a point where it ripped the pad off. I replaced the rotors, calipers and pads. Now from time to time the same brake locks up and will only free up if the car is allowed to set for some time. Also when the car is in reverse, i get a momentary grinding from that brake. Any opinions?
Thanks

I know what your saying about the noise you hear when you back up. When I bought my 240 from my friend she let her red-neck boyfriend work on it and he couldn't figure out the the rear calipers dial in so he just put it back on with no pads. Hence new rotor, pads, caliper, and a new noise like its sticking when I back up. Any ideas on how to fix?
