S13 suspension choices
I posted this on 240sxforums, but I'm getting NO response over there. I'm trying to decide on coilovers for my S13. Here's what I'll be doing with the car, in order of highest frequency to lowest:
1. Street driving
2. Autocrossing
3. Drag racing (once in a while for bragging rights)
I won't be drifting. I realize that's not "cool", but at this point in my life drifting doesn't interest me...
It's important that this car be comfortable on the potholed streets here in the midwest; it's not my daily driver, but it will get a lot of seat time especially in the summer. The only other requirements that I have are that the coilovers include upper pillowball/camber plate mounts, and that they be DURABLE enough to last a few years on the car.
Fire away! Please tell me why you choose what you choose; also, please don't recommend any super-exclusive drift-oriented JDM suspension like Kei Office or KTS. I've already done some pretty extensive research, and those are either too hard for me to get or too expensive or both.

From what I've been told, the JICs are a lil too stiff for handling on normal street conditions. they are like 8KG/6KG. although I won't argue that the JICs are probally gonna be the best there, it's also best to get a custom spring rate as well of 6KG/6KG for the street would probally be better. Unless if your streets are like perfect and everything (like in Japan) I would think the 8KG/6KG would be too stiff for normal north american streets, and would cause the car not to handle as well on the street. Or on a normal autocross track.
I know Tein has some that are 5KG/4KG which might be good as well but I don't think there is a need to go that low, although the ride quality would be alot better.
And since you are in Canada as well, our streets arn't that well kept, so you'd want to go with something softer so the tires don't bounce off the road and lose traction when going over small bumps.
But maybe someone has better insight into this than me.
JICs go for about 2000 US.

Now that I think about it, although coilovers would give you better performance, I'd rather stiffen up the chassis first with roll bars, links, etc. that'll help alot with handling as well, and then use softer springs, you'll get the same handling but you are more adapted to diffrent road conditions, and have better ride =)
Rememer Springs/Shocks arn't the only way to make a car handle better.
