Steering rack replacement 89, 240 SX 5 speed

89, 240 SX 4 cyl stick
Guys
My nephew and I are plaining to replace his steering rack. He is good with his hands and I want to teach him the correct way. I have gobs of auto repair experience but haven't done this job before, mostly I do tune up and fuel injection work on General Motors cars. We are tight for time and I am just hoping someone can give us a heads up on the job.

Here is a link to my car, not a G.M. take a peek,

1970 Porsche 914 with a 430 HP Small block, has a (930) Turbo Carrera transmission (good to 700Hp) converted by Renegade Hybrid.
