you either need springs (i.e. tien,rs*r,eibach, tanabe) and new shocks (i.e. kyb, tokico, gab)
or just buy coilovers. (i.e. tein, tanabe, kei office)
its could cost you like 400-2000.00 to lower a car.
so make sure what he is going to be with the car.

If he just needs springs, look on a website that has them.
I don't see the purpose of just getting springs if he plans to do any heavy drifting though. He'll just end up wanting to change them out, and wasting money when he could have just gone straight with something that works. Even if you just get springs, your shocks will more than likely blow. He should consider that as well if he wants to "drift".
Then again, nowadays everyone talks a lot of hype about "drifting" and "Oh, I got an S13, so now I'm going to drift it -- I'M GONNA GET AN SR20, and go super fast!!" I'm not saying that your b/f is like that or anything, but drift is the next drag: People say they want a 10 second car, because Vin Diesel said so.
Everyone hears so much hype about 240's and reading internet garbage online. I mean it's a good car...but I think Nissan is the next Honda; people are just getting them for the wrong reasons.
There is a lot more to drift than people think--or any motorsport for that matter.

P.S. - Turn off your caps.

JDM LOOK HAHA WEAK.
FROM WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE HE APPARENTLY IS WELL AWARE OF YOU INTENTIONS. TELL HIM TO DO SOME RESEARCH.
IF LIKE TO PLAY AND DRIFT HIS CARS THEN HE SHOULD KNOW WHAT HE IS LOOKING FOR.
AND TURN OFF YOUR DAMN CAPS!
