TEIN SS Install question HELP
TEIN SS Install question HELP
I installed a set of Super Streets today, and everything went fine.........
However , I made one assumption.....the rear struts are unmarked, so clearly they both work on both sides.......
However, at the BOTTOM of the strut assembly, where the 17mm bolt goes through, the strut is not symmetric
IT IS WIDER ON ONE SIDE THAN THE OTHER........
Does anyone know which side should face IN/OUT.........?
For now, I have the side with the "spacer" facing outward toward the wheel......this makes the negative camber a little higher I believe.......
IS there a CORRECT WAY to choose how the strut should go on?
The directions sure as hell didn't say so!
Help would be great here

YOU DONT MAKE SENSE!!!
Your stock suspension where the 17mm bolt goes in is wide to small. Wide should face the knuckle.
That does not give you any negative camber. Only the accentric bolts on the camber arm do that.

What I was trying to explain was that depending upon which way it goes on, the angle that the whole strut makes (in terms of perpendicularity with respect to the ground) can change
If I put the part with the "spacer" closer to the wheel (facing outside), then the strut tower is more angled, as compared to if is were rotated 180
So, is there a right way.........it seems to fit on both ways without a problem, but i want to make sure it is correct.......

here is a pic of what i am talking about:

I KNOW THIS ISN'T THE SAME SET OF COILOVERS, but the bottom end of mine look identical (for the rears)
on the 2nd from the left (rear STRUT) in the picture, at the bottom of the strut, notice there is some "extra metal" or something on the right side of the strut.......
which way should this face............SOMEBODYYYY! HELPPPP!

ok i will have to double check how i have it on there.....i could have sworn both were the same size....i think this will make a difference, right now my rears are pretty toe in and negatively cambered.....
i'm slapping on some 17x9 work emotions next weekend +17 rear and either +25 or +17 front
pictures to come, the **** looks good slammed

the position of the rear shock (it's not a strut) doesn't change camber or toe. The 'angle' isn't an issue as it is up front.
BTW Go get an alignment, if you go lower than about 1.5" or so you won't get the wheel straight without RUCAS/Toe Rods.
And again since it seems you're not getting the idea - the thicker side goes to the knuckle. If you put it the other way the shock end sorta is too close to the knuckle.
Kay.

Okay, so for example, in the above picture, the 2nd shock from the left, as it is oriented in the picture, would go on the right side...........?
If so, that is how i have it now...........thanks for the help all.
P.S. My friends suggest I wait to get it aligned until after I slap on the new wheels..........should be in about a week, and I won't be driving much till then.
