Tire Clearance, What's the biggest tire i can fit?

I'm selling my other car '03 SpecV, but i'm keeping the Volks i have on it, however it has 225/45-17 on all 4, can i clear those up front w/ just shocks/springs (as in not coilovers) ? I heard unless u have coilovers u can't clear anything more than a 40-series tire up front, otherwise u'll rub, is that true?

Thanks,

Jay

No matter how wide or what offsets he has it still could have a problem with hitting the spring perch with out coilovers.

Just try it. Only way to realy know for sure.

Ummm...Kay.

Wheel with lower offset means that he wheel will be outwards of the car so maybe since he has 225/45 that he could fit a 235/40 the aspect ratio does not diff that much between the 2.

He could hit the perch if he got a tire with a larger sidewall. But everything below the perch is static, well except the tire that compresses and what not.

What you said seemed a tad uneducated.

Look back at his question, he was asking if his 45 series was going to fit. On a 240 with out coilovers the only place that one would really have to worry about fitment would be at the perch. I doubt you will get it low enough to rub any where else. From the way I read his question, I didnt see any hints that he was going to ask how well the wheel would fit his car ( where wheel specs would come into play.) I only seen him asking if it would rub, due to the overall diameter.

This argument is ridiculous. Obviously we both read the questoin differently. So we had two diffrent answers.
