I am looking at getting the Tein 2" drop springs on my 96 240 SE and I wanted to know what size wheels and tire combo's I could fit under it. It is strictly a drift car. But I dont want to rub the fenders like crazy when I turn. I understand I need to roll fenders. I am looking at some 18x7.5's up front and 18x9.5's in the back. I am also looking at some 16x8's. Would I need spacers for them? This is a budget car, so I am not looking at spending much $$$$. I appreciate any help guys!

 

springs dont have any hadling performance what so ever, and will blow your stuts sooner or later. why waste $200? invest in some real suspension. kts, max, stance, ect, ect.

and judging by those wheel sizes you are looking at 002s and 962s right? time to turn the other way.

 

Not entirely true. Springs will lower the center of gravity and reduce roll therefore improving performance. However, the rest of the statement is accurate that the shocks will be underdampened for less than optimal performance and will wear out quickly. You should always upgrade the shocks with the springs.

Now as far as wheels, depending on offset, you can fit a 8-8.5 up front and a 9.5 rear no problem. Offset, camber, and tire size will determine if it rubs or not. You could run a 225 front tire and 245 tire rear with about a 35 offset for a very conservative fitment with no issues at all. This however will not be that very aggressive look

 

Thank you! I know that the stock shocks will wear out. I dont care. I will replace them when I have more money. I need something to help with body roll. I have lowered alot of my cars and it helped alot! All I want to know is if I did go with the 18's (maxsport) would I still be able to turn the front wheel all the way. in that case, forget the springs and just get sway bars, they will help with body roll a LOT more.

my 17x9.5 +15 with 215/40, turn just fine without hitting anything.

just keep in mind that 1 inch = 25.4 millimeters, and i'm sure you can figure out what will and will not fit.

 

Yeah, sway bar will be better. With springs, it will tend to be bouncy and can wear the shocks out very quickly, especially if they are old.
