Wheelhop???

You guys explained bumpsteer pretty good so what's wheelhop, what causes it and how do you fix it?

worn shocks usually cause wheelhop....

It's can also be caused by bad motor mounts/high HP motors with stock motor mounts.

so much twisting force is being exerted on the wheels, the car itself winds up. kinda like axle wind up.

basically have u ever launched ur car and sometime when the tires spin the rear end vibrates/jumps around..thats wheel hop...of course its opposite on FWD

fix by getting subframe spacers/more solid rear end...good shocks/springs/coilovers whatever..

ps i have coilovers and spacers and i get wheel hop quite often..thats why 240s arent the best drag cars...

I've been researching subframe spacers. I was originally gonna have a shop do this but I think I want to slay this dragon myself. Did you guys get the subframe spacers with the slits/cuts in them or the completely whole spacers? Is there a difference in them other than ease of installation?

Yes, big difference.....the solid ones are actual aluminum bushings....you have to drop the whole subframe and press out the old bushings to put these in....

I think most people on here will tell you they are overkill....the subframe SPACERS are sufficient....they are the ones with the slits in them

If you pay someone to do it you will be pissed....it takes about 30 minutes to install them. So easy

I installed my subframe spacers today and my wheelhop has been almost elimanated. There was a very big difference in the rear end performance and it feels a lot more solid than before. The only trade-off is the extra noise...CLANK, CLANK, CLANK!!! Oh well!

Yes indeed if you pay someone to install the spacers you will be majorly pissed. This was one of the easiest installs I've done to date and I'm just a weekend shadetree mechanic. It would have taken me about twenty minutes start to finish if I hadn't stopped to take pictures.

Wheel-hop only seems to happen to me when it's really slippery (ie: ice/snow)

Put my rear swaybar back on, changed out the traction control links, rear toe rods and subframe spacers. It has helped to minized the wheelhop considerably. I think after I change some more rear suspension parts and do an alignment, I have it at a minimal level.

accually i had a clank then i put the spacers in and my clank went away
