Capability of the stock internals

Okay, feel free to accost me if I'm mistaken, but I didn't see any info on this when I searched the forced inducted forums. If the info is somewhere else on the site, you can just put up a link or point me in the right direction instead of repeating yourselves. My question is: are the rods and or crank on the KA24DE forged. All I hear is rumors and no proof to back it up. I have a KA taken apart right now and it looks like there are casting seam lines on the rods, so I'm confused. The people who are saying that the rods and crank are forged can't seem to provide any proof. Can any of you shed some light on this?

And maybe let me know how many of you that are turbo are running on the stock internals and if you've run into any problems with them (such as breaking a rod or something).

I haven't a clue about the forgedness, lol.

but stock internals shouldn't be run more than 8psi, 10-12 has been heard of but not wise.

Thanks for the info. I took the block, crank, and rods down to the machine shop and they told me that the internals are in fact forged and that they were quite certain that they would hold up to about 500hp.

I've been wondering this for ages, even only 7 psi on a stock KA has concerned MY internals for a daily driver, so now I feel a little more reassured for when I get the $$ for my 240 and turbo setup....thanks.

as have I
I know a few people here on the east coast running 8psi on stock internals, 10 when they need it, anymore is asking for a blown HG.

Its all about engine management. I know of people running 15psi on a stock bottom end. He's been doing that for about 30k miles.

As far as 500hp on stock bottom end, doubt that. The KA just isn't designed for high hp output.
