I know it's misspelled. I misspelled it like 8 years ago and kept it that way. And show me an import non-turno engine that will put out 500hp/500 torque. Remember, I'm coming from the point of view where both engines have the same amount of money put in it and tuned correctly. Sure, a turboed import engine can beat an NA muscle engine. However once you start supercharging nad turbosharging those huge v-8s, our tiny inline fours and inline 6s won't be able to touch that power. True, technology is the replacement for displacement, but... when you mix technology and displacement together, you have a beast.

Haha, I like all, so whatever. Anyways, back on topic, KA with it's iron block, greater displacement, and superior head design will make more power and be more reliable if both the SR and KA are built up.

I'm not saying displacement doesn't have anything to do w/ the whole making power equation, but 500whp/500tq 4cyl engine is HIGHLY unlikely. Not only that, but that much power is barely usable in a street import.

Exactly... anyways, there is also another factor that makes it highly unusable... its called a power to weight ratio... let me break it down for allayas... it takes a certain amount of power to move an object of a certain mass a certain distance in a certain amount of time. Now lets say, for instance, it takes 1 hp to move a rock that is 1lb 1 foot in 1 second. well what happens when you move a rock that weighs 1/2 lb? it takes less time. So to make a longer story a lil shorter, it takes less effort to move a smaller object. American cars are overweight and under powered. If a hemi charger weighs 2 tons and has 500 hp and 500 ft/lbs of torque, then theoretically, a 1 ton gutted civic with 250 hp and 250 ft/lbs of torque can scoot just the same. get it ? got it? GOOD... my work here is done

Yea, I was going to state weight as a factor, but there are some light (sort-of) domestics out there. Not to mention, a heavy car USUALLY has crappy balance overall, like in cornering and braking.

The Nova weight 3250 lbs. That's what, lighter than a Supra, a car commonly used in drag racing. Plus, Ive I interpretted the thread right, it's about the engine, not about the car and the engine. Whatever, I'm done here. I already stated what was better.

well too bad, things have a way of evolving... and if you think that raw displacement is better, go ahead and buy that 409 big block and stick it in your flintstonemobile, but when i fly by you in my whimpy lil turboed 4-banger pushing a 1:5 power:weight ratio versus your 1:8, dont go crying to your momma... she'll slap you

and BTW supras suck...

Hypocrit how? I know it's not about muscle engines. Reason to why I said this:

I was bring this thing back on track to its topic. but you're the one going off tangent because of one small comment I made and because I was defending it. Nad yes, I think raw displacement is better. reason to why I think KAT > SR.

I agree, plus parts are a lot easier and cheaper to find on the ka motor

Without all the "in the vacuum" generalization which leads many to believe it's a solid fight for displacement between the SR and KA, I put my money on the SR. To date the SR has been pushed far further than the KA, atleast in Japan it has. Phoenix power has a fully built SR pushing 901 rwhp (I believe it's RWHP). I don't believe any KA has been pushed anywhere close to that to date. Sure we can say it should have the potential but by design currently seeing the track record of capabilities I would put my faith in the SR. This is just my opinion. Displacement isn't everything, if the design of the engine doesn't bare the capacity to harness the benefits of its displacement. Which is why a 13b rotary engine can handle so much power and spool large A/R Turbine sides so fast with its miniscule 1.3 liter displacement. It was all in the design. In a vacuum you could change out everything in an engine to where the only thing that mattered was displacement, but in the real world this is simply not the case.
