How much in all

I have a 90 240 and i love it, but i dont want to put the things everyone dreams on it cuz its too rugged, but i DO plan on getting a 94 240 with less miles within a year or so, do better body work and put a turbo on the motor it comes with.(im not a fan of the 2.0liter sr20det-can't a civic with the prelude drop and turbo take me then?)
If i were to start off by putting an entire turbo kit on the stock engine, changing injectors and fuel rail, clutch to stage 2, exhaust system, boost controller, and anything else basically required without changing anything too radical, how much would i be spending?just in the ball park with descent parts, nothing too expensive
This must happen,my inspiration came when i saw a 95 240, which i feel looks a little less stylish than the 94, take off on a green light, he was turbo'd and the thing just took off so perfect with soo much power, hearing the bov every gearchange,i knew i had to have and experience one for myself.
Thanks...
Casey

COST?

Costs for a pre-assembled turbo kit usually runs around the high 3K to the low 4K. The kits that are assembled will usually bolt right in with modification to the oil pan. You'll be good for an estimated conservative HP rating of 220.
I think some of the kits might not include the needed larger injectors
-so let's say injectors costing maybe between 300-500

-then ECU modifications to adjust to the larger injectors maybe another 500.

-add in the convience of a turbo timer 75-100 bucks

- boost gauge 100-150

wanna tinker around with your boost, turbo boost controller is another 500.

Stage II clutch maybe 500 or so

Installation is gonna be your biggest problem, if you're mechanically inclined you should be okay, some basic knowledge should help a lot.

all adds up, it's a matter of how far you wanna go. But I'd say if you're looking for a safe route I'd go with a kit, and work from there.

www.turboneticsinc.com
sells a pre-assembled kit

www.XS-engineering.com
sells another kit

www.realnissan.com
sells a kit, I'm looking at them possibly once I find a damn KA24DE motor to put in my 89'. so anyone selling one?

A civic with a turbo prelude engine would kill any basic tubo kit equiped KA too... And BTW you do know that ALL '94 240's were automatic convertables right?

also, if u look at the costs, u might come away cheaper w/an engine swap and perhaps a boost controller and make more bang bang bang for ur buck. but what the hell, do some research, compare notes, and see what u come up with. it's ur car, ur money, ur decision. do whatever brings u joy...

Thanks for the web sites, O and thanks for correcting me on the convertibles, i completely forgot about the whole 94 production being convertable...but thats ok cuz i think after an engine rebuild in the spring i might stick with my 90'
Ill let you all know if i have any specific questions on what else to do when the time comes thanks

be careful with the engine rebuild...you will spend a nice penny to do it right...and if you build for N/A there will be no comming back

yup, stuck.

ide save up for an rb25det being that doing a ka-t right is going to cost just as much and the rb25det is a inline 6 2.5 liter already turbo, and it comes as a turbo motor... with strong internals, thats what im doing, just a suggestion. I should be able to get 300rwhp fairly easily.

keep us updated.

Well that would be a smooth route and all, probably an easier one too, however some new options arrived, i may be able to get a KA24DE dropped in that is a friends of mine because "supposubly" he's getting a redtop sr20, which i gotta see to believe, his is a 95, do you think it will fit with the right mounts and all in my 90? if i dont get his motor, id still like to go for turboing the Ka24E that i already have building it piece by piece and then putting a kit on made by someone i found online for a great price. plus, my car, looks stock like anything, besides the sweet blue paint i got last year done, so i would love to have that sleeper-bility. goodtimes
thanks for the suggestion
ps:about my friends 240, he says his sr20 is comming in 0 miles and he's getting it for 5 grand, isn't he full of bullplop? he also stated it was a six speed? id like to clear that up please

lol yeah he sounds full of shiot... it would have to be a fully rebuilt redtop with an s15 tranny for it to have 0 miles and a 6 speed... which i doubt he could get for 5k... haha

Wow, i thought so,...and the funniest thing is...i found out today that he isn't getting it cuz "his parents dont like his grades"and "wouln't give him the money as planned" so yea but thats ok, cuz today...funny again...i found ANOTHER option for me,i looked at this junk yard's web site, and found my exact year engine for 600 bucks! and it comes with the 5speed, AND has 108k miles, much better than mine, so here's my lil "share your dream story" which isn't too far fetched.
Ill grab this motor in a short period of time, keep it in my garage slowly adding performance parts, building it to my standard, forged parts, the whole works, machine the block and all so it looks sweet and once its completely built(which is close to a brand new motor) ill just drop it into my car, trash the old engine that ill harass in the mean time, and then slap that turbo kit on that i found (and by slap i do mean much more than tighten down, i realize the MANY fabrications and changes needed for it to happen) and ill be set,...what do ya all think?
