Lightweight

I dont know what other forum to put this in, but its technical, and it has to do with a turbo (sr20det 240) so I might as well put it here.

ok, what major things would you reccomend for bringing a 93 240 with sr20det down closer to 2500 lbs? I dont want to remove too many amenities (sp?) like ac or rear seat, but I want to lighten the car.

I'm thinking get some carbon fiber body parts, take out spare tire and jack, remove stereo system (just bring my boom box for daily driving), lightweight racing seat/s (sparco torino) and..... I dunno. maby I could workout, not be so fat?

what else?

Well there really isn't a whole lot you can do without spending some cash. Also keep in mind if your going to race it or drift the car then when you put a rollcage in it your just going to offset whatever you take out of the car. A fiberglass hood & truck would be a good way and then get them painted unless you have to have the carbon look and then you can always spend double the fiberglass price. The stock seats are bulky and you could pull out the rear seats and then install full buckets or reclining buckets in the front. If your going to keep the spare tire then pick up a RX7's aluminum jack and toss out your old steel stock unit. Removing the A/C is a nice way of losing some weight and making room for a nice big FMIC behind the bumper. Get yourself an electric fan or the twin electric fan setup and mount them where the A/C condensor was infront of the radiator. That will give you alot more room in the engine bay.

Well then there really isn't a whole lot you can do. Besides 2500lbs would be a big drop in weight. If you had a 180SX you could always get the Lexxan rear hatch to take some of the weight out of the *** end of the car. Have you checked out getting one of those gel batteries from dynabatt? They weigh next to nothing so that would be better then the stock battery. Besides the money would be better spent on a turbo, FMIC, exhaust, E-Manage/Power FC/FCON V Pro or some other computer.
