ok.. so like i said in another thread a few days ago. I am starting to buy parts to go boosted. and in my research, I have found that I should replace the pistons and go forged since i wanna run a T3/T4 turbo setup pushing out around 300+ horsepower. but i have also found that the stock rods are already forged. but i'm just wondering exactly how tuff the stock rods are.? I have already priced and am looking at some Eagle H-beam rods, but i am just wondering if it is really necessary. I will probably get them anyways just b/c they're only like $400. and I wanna make sure to do it the right way the first time. I don't really wanna tear down my motor again 2 months after I get it all setup. but what do you guys think?
hey again.. this might sound a little pathetic to some of you guys. but i'm just starting out so I just wanna make sure that this turbo setup that I found isn't crap b/c i'm not sure what's good and what's not as far as turbo setups. so here's what I'm looking at.
1- Top mount stainless turbo Manifold
2- T3/T4 T04 E type turbo (Garrette Gears)
3- Starter turbo downpipe
4- Garrette/ Tial STY external wastegate
5- Garrette STU BOV
6- External wastegate downpipe turbine
7- Turbo V band clamps set
8- Full flanges kit
9- Full gasket kit
10- Full turbo fitting kit & barbs
11- Full hose set + clamp set + T bar set
12- Full oil feed/ drain kit
13- FMIC 600mm x 300mm x 76mm
So does this sound like a good setup? i'm beefing up the internals on my KA24DE first and I am looking to get about 300+ horsepower.. do you think this setup is worth investing in? or should I keep looking? thanks for any help you can give to a n00b. i have been doing some research, but mostly on how I can beef up the KA. I haven't really gotten to looking that deeply into setups yet. and a friend of a friend is offering this setup to me for $900. so I just thought I would ask. so what do you think?
