the rb20det came in some r31 skylines, the r32 gts-t, r32 gts4, the cefiro, the c33 laurel, etc. RB is a designation that generally means 6-cylinder, as opposed to the sr20det or the like. The rb20det stock made around 210bhp @ 6500rpm @ the fly, and around 185 lb/ft of torque at the same r's. the rb20det can make as much power as you can make it make, to put it simply. sure it displaces less than the rb25 or rb26, but you could always stroke and poke it. just do a bit of research.

There isn't much info out there for these as far as upgrades are concerned. According to night the RB25 crank can be installed to get you a stroked RB22. Being the bore is also smaller means less force placed on the bottom end at the same boost as the Rb25, so I think more boost could actually be ran as long as you stayed within the headgaskets limits. So I think the Rb20 should hold up to as much strain in the bottom end as the RB25. I'm going to be doing this swap shortly, and I choose the RB20 because it's lighter than the RB25 and just something different-theres like 4 SR20 swaps in our town here. Plus when you are just cruising there should be actual decent gas mileage.

I once read it is better to have a 2.0 six than a 2.0 four for turbo and pwr. Theory behind this is that it is alot harder to bang detonate a small piston than it is to a larger piston. Hence takeing 2.0 four a boreing it out. Also you can have higher piston speeds as well. I guess that is why F1 motors are V10's that only displace about 3.5 liters. I my self am saveing for a 97,98 s14 to put in a RB20.

Just a thougt.

only of it had a lot of money man!!
but i wanna be able to drift too so rb20 is a pretty good platform there.
i wonder what is the max hp anyone got out of a rb20det
