I just finished installing my turbo on my SOHC ka.
Im very pleased with it and i suggest that no one try this without a fairly large intercooler and upgraded fuel pump....A bov wont hurt either. tHE MAIN ISSUE with these ka's is the heat that comes off the manifold and turbo...it will attack your brake master cylinder. U need to take alot of precations in order to keep ur brake fuild cool. I FABed up a very large heat shield and covered every inch of the turbo and manifold w/ heat absorbing material.

The end result is a reliable 7psi that provides more than enough power....I highly recomend doing a turbo KA over a SR swap.

yup... i agree KA's can get more torque. luv 2 xl er 8 - good stuff. Where did you get your turbo, and does it have a CARB number and legal in Cali? In about 3 months I'm gonna do a KA24DE(T) swap into a 91 240sx FB, and want it all legal.

Thats interesting I didnt think it was suggested to do a KAT with the SOHC. I was swapping out the SOHC for the DOHC (thought it would have been better) my Crank Shaft Pulley and Crank Shaft Key was grinded flat so it may not be worth repairing but just swapping. At least I know I could still use the SOHC though if I wanted.

lol

Hahahahah...my trubo kit is no where near legal.... and it was all custom...nothing really matches on my setup...i got Pierburg FM-N-tercooler and BOV....which are like German parts...then i got a garnet boyd racing turbo...custom manifold and downpipe....custom IC piping....KNN filter....FMI....Walbro fuel pump...RC 550cc injectors...and some more random stuff. It's mainly illegal because i have a tendency to shoot police attracting flames.

From wat i have heard A KA24et is better than a Ka24det. I'm not too clear on this subject but i think it is because the SOHC has stronger internals and is more capable of handling more boost.

All i know is that my kill list looks a lil something like this:
-s2000
-wrx
-supra t (3rd gen)
-too many civics to count
-sr20det s14 ( this was my favorite...when it was over the guy was like...WTF!!!! ur running a KA???)

I should have a member profile thing on our Touge clubs website in like a month or so....so check it out later for pics of the KA24et and such.

Now its easier to find a SOHC and cheaper so this sounds good. I wonder if anyone else has the same experience?

yeah, SOHC turbo is the way to go
love mine, and will keep on doing so
1000 into the turbo kit, and only minor tweaks left to go.

I think most people are using e-manage, but you can use AEM if you can get the info for it.

For those interested, SDS pulled some interesting #'s on a 200K mile KA24E.
