supporting mods for bigger turbo

well i have been searching all morning on a new turbo and some supporting mods.

at first my thoughts were to go with a gt28rs disco potatoe. but as i read more and more its doesnt sound worth it. my goal is is reach 350 - 400 whp with out getting all crazy in motor work

i would like to be able to reach the hp range with a bigger turbo, fuel pump, intake maifold, injectos, AFC, fuel rail if needed.

i dont know a ton about turbo other then some obvious things. trim number i dont understand other then bigger number mean more hp.
right now i already have bigger injectors waiting to be put in and i have a s13 sr20det with a 3 inch turbo back exhuast and a titanium turbo manifold.

suggestions on what to do -

Those numbers are very realistic. You're not too specific with what kinda motor you have though. The disco potatoe is a perfect turbo for the sr. If you have a sr you should get a fuel rail with 550 injectors, rocker arm stoppers, the turbo, and tuning tuning tuning. With the ka, since there is more displacement, there will be more airflow. A disco potatoe will be working overtime so a t3 would be perfect. The same upgrades would be needed with the ka as the sr but you need to beef up the internals. Tuning is key. 2

I'll make life really easy for you. The hks gt3037 is a great ball-bearing turbo for the ka. Although it's a little pricey you'll see easily 500whp with built internals. Another option is contact turbonetics @ http://www.turboneticsinc.com/ and contact someone there and they will guide you through depending on your driving style and how deep your walet is. Hope these will help. 2

the trim size is the size of the inlet.... a t3/t4 turbo has a .50 trim inlet and .86 exhaust (not certain)

yea the T3/T4 can be really nice, a friend of mine is getting ready to swap in one in place of the t25 that came on his sr20. The idea of that turbo is the larger t4 exhaust side allows for faster spooling, but it still isnt ball bearing (i think) They're supposed to make for a really nice setup, dont quote me on this, but power kicks in around 2500-3000 rpm and pulls hard all the way through

let us know what you decide, hope that helps

2500rpm sounds a little low for a T3/T4, they are relatively big turbos but will be nice for your sr20 and your hp goals.

a gt30 from garrett should work just fine. And for under a grand you could put more money into the rest of the motor. It doesn't take much to make a glob of hp out of an sr. Trust me, my redtop puts 215 to the ground with stock turbo. It's all in the fuel delivery and tuning.

I would worry about your safc right now. Get the tuning back in order then worry about a turbo. A t3/t4 starts spooling at around 3500 rpms. The car will be all top end. Are you sure you want that. Just because the hp numbers are high doesn't mean your going to be the fastest car on the road. The gt30's output is well over 500hp and the response is where you need it. Remember, the sr's internals are capable of 400hp, and that's a **** load. If I were you I would decide on what kind of driving I'm going to be doing and call a turbo manufacturer and decide on the specs. my 2 cents. 2

Im in the process of putting a t3/t4 turbo set up on my sr20. ill let you know how it goes.

BTW the sr internals are good for 500+. just look at Enjuku's drag car and phase2's car.
