I have about .016 - .017" of side to side shaft play. Do you guys think its alright to run this turbo? I just bought it off the internet the other day. I have read in a bunch of places that as long as its under .022" its not ready for a rebuild. I just want some opinions from you guys.

Yeah I dont think that sounds to wild, its just some mild shaft-play which is normal on a turbo with a decent amount of miles on it. What kind of turbo do you have exactly? And what are your plans? You might wanna rebuild if you plan on tracking the car/high boosting IMO

The turbo is a IHI RHB31 and will be going on an atv running around 7 psi of boost. I have an event the first of next month and will need the turbo. After that I thought I could take the turbo back off and rebuild it.

Yeah I dont think that should be too risky. Plus its good to do a rebuild espeially if you are gonna use it at alot of events and want it to last.
