weird idling, my idle drops whenever i step on the brakes
i'm idling at 8500rpm normally and when i step on the brake pedal my idle drops to about 7000rpm. when i have my headlights on it'll drop to 5000 or 6000rpm. is it my alternator or is it my battery? or could it be something else? i'm afraid it's my alternator.
could be the alternator or the brake booster drawing too much vacuum from the engine mine used to do that but magically fixed itself when I disconnected it for a while. i would say the brake lights could draw the power fromt he alternator but I don't know if it would be enough to lower rpms
yeah i had the same issue when i hooked up my safc turbo timer and deck to my sr with a genesis mini battery shook like a mug then the same week my brake master cylinder went out after i replaced it the rough idle was gone
depending on how old the alternator and the battery are, I would replace them both, and if that doesn't solve your problem, start digging for dirty grounds, then a grounding kit might help...
