Extended Wheel Studs

To anyone who has put extended studs on their car, particularly the rear, did you have to remove the hub to do so or were you able to put them on with the hub on the car?

I'm pretty sure you'd have to remove the hub because I don't think you have enough room to slide in the new longer studs.

S14- no removal of hub necessary should be the same for s13. Basically you insert studs at 12o' clock position to clear brake dust shield. Thats with 60mm extended studs if you go bigger than that you will have to remove the hub.

well the studs have to be tapped into the back of the hub... i don't see how you could not take off the hub to do it.

Yeah It seem likeit would easier when you have the hub out.
Questions is, what would be the easiest way of removing the old studs once the hub is out?

I need to do this in a few weeks, as I am converting to 5 Lug with Ext Studs

I would loosen up the studs before you remove the hub. If your never going to use the old studs, i would just hit the studs with a hammer until they come out. you might mess up the threads though but thats how i usually do it. if you want to use the old studs again, you can use lug nuts on the studs and hit those.

All you need is to have them ALIGNED stud knurl/hub hole then pull them thru at first with socket+opened lugnut+washers just half a turn. Then you can impact them a little and watch the rear of the hub so they sit flush against it. Same goes just using just socket wrench just more work out and chance of overheating crappy lugnuts from autozone.

Removing the hub takes way more time 1hr easy.
I'm running peak performance front/rear took just 25-30mins.. To get them out I used a 5lb hammer and wacked the studs 3 times each.

ive seen a write up before, not sure if it was this forum. and i did the same thing: washers and kept on turning it to pull thru. hammering them out might take some work if they are rusted on pretty bad.

should slide in, even with extended one. i used arp extended studs for GM f-bodies. the knurl is slightly bigger but it still fits. its the cheap alternative to nismo extended studs. just gotta use diff lug nuts cus of the different thread pitch than what nissan uses.

i'm about to put in new arp studs in my hubs. i decided to do it now while the hubs are out and it's easy. it's gonna look sweeeet.

btw if you purchase ichiba hubs for your s13 to convert to 5 lug. you need 14.3 knurl studs, and 13 knurl rear studs

I said one spot, but why 2 arrows in the pic? Well, I forgot whether it's on the left or right side. I'm sure you can figure that out for yourself though :P Once I got one stud in, I rotated the hub so the hole is in the correct position and inserted the next stud, and repeat till all 5 are in.
