Alarm System's
I have a 1997 240sx Auto. Base model that has no alarm system. I'm in need of a security system because of the increasing rate of auto theft in and around my area(VA, MD, DC).
I am considering the Viper 791XVR system w/ remote start. I plan on installing the system myself because I don't think it would be that difficult.
Is this set-up worth the money and time?
Has anyone put a aftermarket alarm system into any S14?
If so, is there anything important that I would need to know before/during/after I install it?
Any extra parts that I need?
Suggested Links?
But, if anyone else has a better suggestion, feel free to say so.

i think thats the 2 way alarm isnt it? ive got the clifford rsx 3.5 2way which is essentially the same as the viper 2 ways (both DEI). i really like it, ive got the remote start hooked up too (nissan has a neutral sensor pin in the ECU). i'd say go for the alarm since these cars are gettin into the mainstream.

i had a local guy do the install. I watched the whole time, honestly if youre good with wiring and a multimeter it shouldnt be that bad, just time consuming. As i said before i have the remote start hooked up and i have a 5spd. There is a neutral sensor pin in the ECU. If you run the neutral safety wire from the alarm to this pin in the ECU the remote start will not work unless the car is in neutral.

I noticed that the thread is old.. but if you have questions about remote start/alarm/security, let me know I'll help you out.
For some weird reason the 240sx 95 and up needs the accessory isolated,
I got specs on the car if you need it.

extra parts might include another hood pin switch and an actuator for the trunk if you want the trunk to open with the remote. i cant think of anything else you would need besides lots of connectors (t-taps and crimp connectors), a soldering gun and solder, electrical tape, screw drivers, and the all important multimeter.

actually.. check this out....
I don't know why we need to do this to the 95 240sx... but I did it and it's futzing with my car and I'm not happy about it, but check this document out.

When doing remote start, this wire must be isolated from the keyswitch with the accessory relay. See direct fax document #1077.
Soooo I look up direct Fax document..

Wired it up... exactly. So when you put the key in.. accessory turns on.
That required a spare relay.
Also if you don't have power door locks and you wired some in, you also need a relay for that also.
