Alternative Speakers & Amps
I was just curious whether everyone always use mainstream brands for systems? ex. alpine, mb, rockford, jl, audio bahn, infinity.
Has anyone used other pieces that may not be mainstream like ex. lanzar, hifonics, american pro?
If anyone has experience with alternative audio systems please post what company and negative or positive impact on there systems....
I rock with Rockford all around right now but i was thinking of getting a different system audio bahn but i was really thinking of going with something out of the ordinary.....

thats quite the interesting avitar, I woulda kept that to myself though, lol.
I have JBL subs, and LOVE them, different and they sound awesome.
Audiobahn makes good subs as well. I'd suggest going to some audio forums and checking out the reviews. I have RF front and rear speakers and really like the overall sound, especially for the price.

When i was searching for the avatar that i used they had that one and for some strange reason i had to have it
so i decided to post it!
I had JBL years ago. I guess thats considered an off brand. Its not something that seems as popular.
Do you have components or coaxials?
I have 6 1/2 rear & 5.25 front coaxials.
I was recently trying to find a pair of components as well so i was trying to get sense of what people are using and what they feel about them...
Spyder man rocks!

spiderman rocks, i'm not so sure about the gay one in that avitar though, lol.
for the 240sx i'm putting $180 RF 6.5" Component speakers in fhr front door, heh, but only because I get them @ cost. In the rear i'm keeping the RF 6x9's. Betweem the tweeters, 6.5" and 6x9's that will provie excellent highs, great midbass, and the JBL sub will take care of the rest. I got the JBL GTO's, the dual coil 1200 watts max 400 watts rms, the entry level one's are not sao much as good.

I have been waging a war with myself over this sound system.
I know my 12's are to big for my hatch (i still have to use its space as a daily driver). I left my coaxials in my other car (which i may be selling the previous home to the 12's) so i figure i get something new and fresh. I was thinking about alternative brands just to be different. then i was trying to decide 2 10" or 1 12" components all around are components in the front...
Its so agonizing.......
But i will always have spyder man on my side!!!!!!!!!!!
Check out why Yoda was the only Jedi Master to survive...

as long as you remember there's more to sound than bass! Components are awesome, seperate tweeters rock. I agree, I had 2 12's in my hatch and it was overkill and took up too much room. I'm gonna downgrade to 1 12", and try to make a box in the back seat for it to stay, because I don't ever have more than 2 people in my car anyways.

Thats the dilema i'm facing. Right now i am ordering the clarion 835 since it was on sale at zeb.com.
I dunno if i want to keep my 12" RF 2212 speakers in my 240 they are too big and take up to much space. Here are my 2 systems that i am thinking of.
If i go Light weight !
HU: Clarion DXZ835MP
CD Changer: Clarion DCZ625
Components: 2 Clarion 6 1/2 SRS 1684 50 RMS a piece
AMP for components: Clarion APX 401.4
Subs: 2 Clarion XW 1000 400 rms a piece
AMP: Clarion DPX 1001.2
If I go larger!
HU: Clarion DXZ835MP
CD Changer: Clarion DCZ625
Components
Front: Infinity Kappa Perfets 6 1/2 100RMS
Rear: Infinity Kappa 60.5cs 90 RMS
Amp: RF 851X 110 X 4 @ 4 ohms
Subs: RF 2212 or RF 2210
Amp: RF 1001BD
My budget is non-existent right now but i seem to manage.
Give me your feed back. I even thought of going with the elemental Designs 10" but i do not know how they sound or how good they are...
