HELP! (speaker problems)

Well I just bought a pair Pioneer 100watt 4x6's for my 89' Nissan 240sx in the front but when i installed one on the left and tested it out...I was disappointed.....it wasnt as loud as the right one and the bass wasn't as good as the right one either the factory ones are Clarions and their like 20watts.....is it something to do with the pioneers not geting enough power from the head unit? my head unit gives out 45w x 4...and from reading a little it sounds like the factory ones are operating at optimal performance cuz they dont have such a high wattage, while the new pioneers aren't operating at optimal performance because they arent getting enough watts...could this be what it is? What do you guys think?

Might want to the check the left side again to make sure the positive and negative are correct, and also that check the simple things like balance and fader and make sure the connections are not touching anything else.

An Amp is definitely recommended if you are trying to get some power to those speakers. Your RMS power on a 45x4 is somewhere in the 17-21 watts range and after that its all distorted, and thats where a separate amp comes in to help.

Well thats all I can think of for now, hope it helps.

What's the rms on the head unit? I hooked up my 100w pioneers (21w rms) to a sony head unit with peak 50w and rms of 19w and it sounded a hell of a lot better than stock w/ no amp. So if your speakers are pretty new pioneers I'd bet it's the head unit.

I've switched the wire connections on the speaker and they're both the same, I hella messed with the balance controls and thats not it....they are just not as loud and don't have as good bass as the factory ones....while it was turned up, the factory speaker's bass was smooth while the pioneer was crackling. but yea that 45w x 4 is max power for the head unit. They must not be getting enough power.....thats got to be it ( I hope I'm not saying that just to ease my conscience)

I would think its due to the speakers not getting enough power as well. How bout the connections behind the headunit? You check them too?
