Post Replacement Speakers

I wish to upgrade the speakers in my ’92 240SX. I have looked at the direct replacement 4x6 speakers and the response range is inferior a 5 ½ x 5 ½ .
Can this size, or large, be mounted in the existing speaker mounts without to much modifying?
Can anybody suggest a type of speaker that will replace the stock ones with a better performance?

I bought some 6.5 inch components (CDTs) last week and I spent the afternoon figuring out a way to get them in. I think I've got it figured out, so I'll let you know how it goes when I get em in.

...Its a REAL pain though...

Hiya! Thanks for all your help.
I managed to find the specs of some new 4" x 6" speakers that Kenwood are going top maker soon, but at a recomend proce of $150 they seem to be a bit expensive. Will just have top see what Crutchfields will do them for and for some performas reviews.
Anyway here are the tech specs of them I got from the Kenwood site.

KFC-X468C

"As the 4" x 6" speaker size is becoming increasingly popular, the 100-watt KFC-X468C 2-Way Speaker is becoming the best choice in this category. Coupling the woofer with its PBO (high-performance) fiber cone and the 1" PEI (Poly-Ether Imide) poly-film tweeter together in one compact package is the secret of this great combo. "

Frequency Response: 40Hz - 32kHz
Impedance: 4 ohms
Magnet Weight: 5.6 oz
Power Handling: 100 Watts
Rubber Surround
Sensitivity: 90dB

Speaker Connectors: Gold-Plated
Tweeter: 1" PEI Film Banalced Dome
Woofer 4" x 6" Silver PBO Advanced Fiber Cone

Recommended Price $150.00

But for that money I am sure you gan get better speakers in the front.
Just want to find out if there is a way to get a lerge speaker in the front without cutting the door panel and still being able to crank down the windoa.
