Intake replacement, do i remove hose?

There's this hose that goes back to the exhaust connected to the intake air box, if i put a regular cone filter, how will i eliminate that hose? What do i do to it, please give me some info on this, as i just got my car yesturday. Also what spark plugs and wires should i get, not high high performance just good ones, like NGKs and what kind of spark plugs, and how much should i gap'em too, i read in the FAQ it said to gap it to 1.1mm, but my gapping tool is this round this and it only measures in inches. Thanks in advance for any help will be greatly appreciate, im lost with this car!

hose?

Just take the hose off and put an air breather filter on it. As for wires I recomend factory with ngk plugs. The gap in inches is .039-.043 for the sohc engine, not sure if dohc is the same.
