So I heard a rumor . . .

The guys over at the Tweeter near where I live said that circular speakers produce better sound than ovular ones. Anybody heard anything to confirm or deny this. I'm lookin at either puttin alpine type r 5x7's in or alpine type x circular speakers in so any feedback would help.

Never had confirmed proof other than experience and the fact that all component systems are circular. Go with 6 1/2 fronts and 6x9 rear, best overall sound.

come on man, just pop of the panels bust out some material for all it matters it could be some sheet metal that can bend easily but firm enough to hold a speaker make a mound then put the plastic cover back on, the 240's are by far the easiest car to take apart then rebuild as for interior needs. Not a biggie.

dude, the statement that all component systems are circular is wrong. I know that alpine makes a set of 5x7 components. I even found them on their website. Go with what sounds better to you. In the end its gonna be whatever sounds best to you.

6x9's in the rear a problem? No way, put em in the side panel...sounds great.

I'm tryin to keep the interior lookin stock so im just not gonna bolt it onto the frame and leave it. i plan on keeping the paneling. But I must admit i was considering the sheet metal idea. But thas a 2x2 inch difference im still a little worried about cutting that much out thats why im thinkin bout the 5x7's. i know im not gonna have a problem with room because the room in the side paneling of the hatch goes down a good way.

There is no cutting where I have them. I just used 3/4" MDF to make that mount, and the actual speaker fits right in the hole there. Just bolt the mount to the surrounding metal.

No it doesn't get muffled...it's just like a normal mount. I think it sounds better because it's right behind you. Then again I do have a high end Eclipse head unit that lets me play with time alignment and stuff...but I think it sounds great.

I just got 6.5 JL components and i'm not even using back speakers right now cause the stock ones are blown. Sounds amazing compared to my Eclipse 4x6 and Eclipse 6.5 in my altima.

ok. installer at CC here. the round vs oval thing is a myth. there are plenty of oval components, just noone takes the time to look. and speakers sound best when they have a closed air space behind them, gives them a rebound, and thus bass.
