I was being sarcastic. There are guys that come up to me and boast that they can do stuff for ultra cheap and run a full season of racing and drifting and kamakazi bomber missions for the magic 3k.

It is bogus.

i figured that numbers were exaggerated, but still... i must be a cheap sum*****, cuz even that's too much dough for my liking. i see what ur saying, though. as i'm learning more and more about the world of "self-sponsored motorsports", i can see that getting it all together is gonna take some dough. lotsa dough. the way i see it, i'll more than likely end up spending upwards of $10K before any kind of swap/power adding. yet, i think it'll be money well spent...

That is why I post what I go thru. Not just the motor price and the oil. Everything.

I just spent $300 on a helmet and soon $150 on forced air for it. $200 for front tires.

trust me, i appreciate the total and truthful insight into the cost of having fun. it's a rude awakening for me, but it's a lesson better learned now rather than when i'm outta dough and still can't pass inspection for a track event or pop my only set of "drifting tires" and have to sit the rest of the time out so i'll be able to make it home...

I know many people with HOT cars and all they do is compare car to car. The question I always ask is "what did you and your buddy do this season?" hahahahhah

no doubt. if i have my way about it, for the next who-knows-how-long, my car will probably look like ***, handle like a dream (eventually), and have an ever-progressing driver behind the wheel. i refuse to spend butt loads of dough on front end conversions and paint just to **** it all away @ my first track day...
