98 240sx auto -> manual conversion?
98 240sx auto -> manual conversion?
i have searched and searched and have not found an answer. from what ive read so far, it seems like anyone that has a 97/98 240sx that is an auto have not done a manual conversion. there have been some that did do it along with a motor swap, however.
my question is this: since the 97/98 is OBDII, i read that a manual conversion is difficult. not the actual swap, but the wiring. is this true? can anyone confirm/deny this? i have a 98 auto and i want to do the conversion. however, im not sure if i should attempt it myself or take it to a professional. do have have to buy all 97/98 parts to have the conversion work?

i have no idea about the wiring, but i might have some good news about the hardware. the part number for the manual transmission is FS5W71C. now, according to the following sites, it appears to be the same in both the 89-96 240's as well as the 97-98's:
89-96:

97-98 (scroll up a little above the 350Z info):

now, it would be logical to presume that the trannies should be the same based on this, but i'm not certain. i'd figure that if there were significant changes to the wiring, the part numbers would differ. but that's just me.
anyway, hope this helps.

i have a 98 and from wut i've researched when i wanted to do mine is that u need a 98 manual wiring harness to complete it unless u swap, only way i could think of was findin a wrecked 97/98 240 in a junk yard that is manual and strip the parts which is pretty much impossible
nevermind.. i just caught this:
4) Remove all wiring from the trans
Disconnect the wiring to the speed sensor and the OBD-II flywheel rotation sensor. Disconnect the wires which connect to the A/T from next to the fuse box under the hood (4 connections).
