My 1995 240 sx with Auto tranny won't engage reverse. I can put it in reverse, and the reverse lights pop on, but the car acts like it is in neutral. Don't know if anyone has had this issue or knows what to do. Please help. I don't want to do Manuel swap yet...

 

happened in my old Altima, the cause was I blew the tranny to hell

 

tranny is clear, as it shifts fine in to all the other gears...

 

Technically I didn't blow it to hell, I didn't even know it was messed up till I parked, nose of the car first, in front of a store, when I left the store I hopped in and put it in reverse and it wouldn't go anywhere, but driving forwards was fine.

 

so what did you do? and maybe the better question... how much did it cost..

 

to tell you the truth I junked the car after and got my first 240, dunno how much it would've cost to fix....I'm not totally sure thats your problem though so I wouldn't go buying a new tranny or anything right away

 

no I am waiting on some really smart person to tell me exactly what I need without even looking at the car... hahaha. actually I don't mind not having reverse right now, and I'll probably go down to a local garage and talk to someone about it... thanks for your insite.

 

you can live without the reverse for a little, just be careful when in parking in parking lots, gotta make sure you can pull the whole way through all the time
