loose/rattling shifter....

loose/rattling shifter....

My short shifter rattles at certain RPM's how can I fix that? Also when it is in gear and I put my hand on the **** i can move it side to side almost like its still in neutral (not that much though) how can I fix that?

what shifter is it?

could be the pivot ball on the bottom of the shifter.

i dont kno it came with the car its a chrome 1. has like 2 parts to it.

many short shifters do that

there isn't anything to stop it. Mine does it (ebay) and B&M does it as well.

It just has to do with the throw.

the B&M may buzz at higher RPM's, but it is very firm and not loose like he stated

how do i fix that? that was the same with my SI when i had a B&M shifter but i tightened it somehow underneath the car. wut about the 240?

IDK i deal with mine. mine is only loud at high rpms. I only hit high rpms when i wanna have fun anyway. And by that time the exhaust and flywheel are singing and there is just no hope for a quite ride.

lol haha. im just trying to figure out how to keep it stiff so it dosent move much when its in gear feelin like its sorta in neutral

oh yea true. forgot about that part. I'm sorry but I've never heard of shifters doing that. I have no idea.

i mean its not that loose but i would like to have it stiffer. cuz ive felt others b4 that were stiff and felt really good.

mine does that too... I just think it has to do with the way it is made.

I don't think its a "fix" type thing. Its just the way the linkage all works together with that particular unit.
