dude it's easier than you think. i just swaped my old auto tranny for a 5spd. first go to a junk yard. find yourself a nice low milage 5spd 240 thats either been crashed from the rear, or has a blown head. take the tranny out, this includes: master cylinder, slave cylinder, driveshaft/ velocity, fly wheel, clutch, clutch plate, pressure plate, clutch pedal and shifter. make sure not to damage the slave cylinder. THAT'S IT! don't settle for a high milage 240, shop until you find the right one. getting it out of the junk yard and taking it home should cost you no more than $300. Now you wanna install it, that's even easier. Shop, shop, shop, shop for a mechanic shop, not a tranny shop to get the job done. people are going to tell you a job like that costs around $800. thats BS. i got it done for $400. thank GOD i found a shop at that price. if you can't find a shop for $400 a bit more or less, keep on looking, they're out there. after installation, you might wanna change the old brake pedal, it'll rub against the clutch pedal, you don't want that. you might have to do some wiring to get the reverse lights to come on, but thats it; no changing the computer, non of that crap. but what ever you do, don't do the job for $800. you'll be a sucker if you do. hope i helped. good luck on the swap. and it's easy man.

well, i just did my 5sd swap and it came out good. Dont know if it makes any sense to you guys but the reason the ECUs were switched is because, the reading of the throttle response ratio is different from the manual than the auto. You still can use it the same ecu, buts its better to change it. Thats just what the tranny places and mechanics commented.

don't listen to these guys, you won't have to change anything except your check at the bank for cash, depending on what shop you go to. trust me, i've done it and my ride runs awesome. there's always an easy and right way of getting things done, you just have to shop around, thats all. trust me, you don't gotta change a damn thing.
