ca18det into 240??
Thanks bro, your opinion does matter and I think the CA is going to be sick. I'm going to order the motor and new mounts sometime around the weekend of the 7th/8th and im going to take lots of pictures and ****. so stay tuned!
I thought I'd post this for good info.

I heard the CA's are really good. from what i understand they have forged internal but im not sure if thats true. I'll try to find the link to the site but my friend was gonna go CA and he showed me this site with a CA that had 450hp or so reliably driven every day. if i can find the link ill post it.
I have a ca18det in my car right now. My only mods are skyline radiator, sr20det turbo, hks intake, and a 3" exhaust. My friend drove it and tole me it pulls just under his stock sr20det with 2 1/2" exhaust, and hks intake, running 8 lbs of boost. I also paid only $1800 for my front cut. It only took me 3 days to swap it. Minimal mods. I paid the guy I bought it from $250 to do my wiring harness, and after that, straight bolt on to my '91. It's a good motor. Sr20 is a great motor too, but it's not the ONLY motor swap for the 240.
yes ca's are cast iron. i had one in my old car that i junked. and yes i have an sr now.its a short stroke engine which mean it reaches high rpm's faster then an sr but like it was said earlier a lil bit of this and that and it reaches nice power. and over here it was way cheaper to build a ca vs sr though parts were semi hard to find. me i would save up some money and buy nice upgrades vs somthing to get me by, then put it together and drop it in. but its your money so spend it as you wish
Very solid little motor. I had one in my S13 before I sold it.
All the internals are not forged, just the rods.
Their biggest weak spot is the bearings, or so I've heard from the UK guys. Replace the bearings when you install the motor, and you should be set pretty much indefinitely.
Also, budget at least $1k for misc installation costs, unless you want to ghetto rig it.
The NICO CA forum has some VERY good info. Check it out.

I'm with you SuPeRfLy0615, I'm doing the same engine swap this winter. I got my motor for about $1300 with everything but the MAF.
I think the CA is going to be a rockin motor! Like what was said before, be sure to to get mounts made for the CA18DET because SR & KA mounts tilt the motor more to one side.
fun vids of ca18det
