I have been looking for an sr20det s13 to put in my 90' 240sx for a little over a month. I had decided on getting it from phase2motortrends, but they will not have another engine soon enough. I did find an sr20 for fairly cheap from www.japandomesticmotor.com is this a good place to buy from? I was planning on doing a complete rebuild also and I was wondering what pistons and connecting rods are good. Also, where is a good place to order them. Thanks for your help. -Derek

 

I'm in the process of getting an s14 front clip from them right now, its due to be here by the end of april. Ill let you know how it goes. The main reasons i went with phase2motortrend were because they are registered through the bbb (and have a good rating), they gave me 100 dollars off the total cost for preordering and they offer a basic install package that if you buy and engine through them they will sell you for 500 dollars:

well my motor arrive japan domestic and I will be looking at it in a couple of days and let you know what the condition is.

 

hell for $1900 thats a steal...but the website is kinda confusing...it says on the left "The Motor" followed by the engine code and then the price ($1900)...but on the right under "Stats" it lists the tranny, ecu, harness, etc etc. are all of the things listed included for the price or is it 1900 just for the engine itself? And the redline on a rb and the VG is NOT 8900 rpms and correct me if im wrong but the CA18DET (88-90) had 170 hp...they list 135 hp

 

The motor I purchased from them ran fine after I spent a lot of timing fixing little things and cleaning it.

This is how they said it was packaged in Canada before shipment....



This is how it showed up at my house...
* No ECU was included
*I had to argue with them to send me a beat up SMIC with no bolts and no piping except for the core and two side pieces.
*The Throttle body was bent and not usuable
*The CAS was cracked and not usuable








The only positive thing I can say is when my friends and I got the motor cleaned and installed it ran really good.

They did not refund anything. They did send me a beat up smic with no piping and no bolts though.

The owner of the company personally took it and e-mailed it to me. why?

 

I do not suggest buying any engines or clips outside the US. Sure prices are really cheap, but you'll make up the difference in replacing all broken parts. A lot of the time bad things happen and if the replace parts it takes longer because its gotta come from canada. And also, shipping is way expensive. A good example is FlashOptions.com... great prices, but have not heard one good thing about them. Try to find a shop close to you to get a motor.

 

I wish people would read the "used japanese engines" post stickied in this section. Ahh yes flashoptions......great prices, if you actually get anything.

So were can I get some clips at reasonable price? I'm looking for an rb25 or better yet an rb26 engine, but everybody wants to sell those SR20s. Were can i get them?

 

why do you want an RB25 or RB26?? What do you plan on doing with your car??
