Motor Swap

I got another question guys. What do yall think about dropping a 305 V8 into a 89 240? I was thinking about putting in an sr20 but my dad is an old timer and wanted to put something in he knew how to rebuild to be pushing out about 425 rwhp. Just let me know what you think.

It's been done, I think its pretty cool. I would do it myself if I had time/money/skill. The cool thing about domestics is you can make rediculous amounts of horsepower for not alot of money, so i say go for it, but be prepared to deal with lots of random little problems along the way.

same here dude, i like it. How bad *** would it be to have a 240 pull up, rev it and sound like a mustang or corvette (not sure who makes a 305).
I would do it, however, its going to throw the weight WAYYY off, you're going to have to get top-of-the-line coilovers.

Going to be a tight fit too, so make sure its all perfect before you drop it in. Good luck man

If I remember right, those Chevy 4.6s are all iron...so it'd be HEAVY. You'd be better off dropping in something small and all-aluminum. I'm not sure if they make an aluminum-block 305 though. Whatever you do, this kind of swap is going to be expensive, and it will require a lot of custom work, so I hope you've got some excess money laying around.
