RB25DET going in my s13

Give me some insight on this pleeeeaaasssseee...Im planning to swap my KA24E (SOHC)<---WEAK!! with a RB25DET...My question is whether to buy a clip and have a shop put it in (preffered) or do it myself..I know i have the mech. knowledge and experience, but i want someone who has done this exact swap before because Ive never really messed with wiring harnesses and F/I...so everyone let me know what you think. I know i want to do it in my car...

Reasons why:

All ive ever owned were Nissans and I bought mine in January...LOve it!!!

Its base as hell...Advantage because: nothing power means less weight..no sunroof Less weight...no cruise control less weight...five speed..low miles..paint is nice....all i have in the car that is special is the alarm (came with it)...and my system....I know subs add weight ...but im not THAT worried about it...

heres a pic....let me know if this swap would be better myself or have a shop do it...Im sure most of you have the experience to know.... THANKS!!!

Clean 240. You can save a grand, maybe more by doing the swap yourself. If you want to have the experience, have the time, ready for some frustrating nights/days and want to save money do it yourself. If you have the money for it, dont have that much time on your hands and etc. get a prof. to do it. Just my 2 cents

If you mean RB25DET, then yes it is alot harder than an SR swap. There is more wiring to work out and also more custom work required. Plus it is more expensive, but the bragging rights and satisfactiona re well worth it once completed

I know a shop in Tallahassee that would do it, They are putting my sr20det in right now for 800 dollars. They have really good credentials, they are a little slow but the do a GREAT job because everything is double, triple checked. If you are interested then I will give you their number. Actually there are two shops that I recommend. One shop put a sr20det into a 95 rx-7 and was pushing out 539 horses on stock bottom end with a upgraded headgasket. He was featured in a couple of magazines, since his car was a one of a kind. Let me know if you are interested.

We have a list of places...but not by state, and I'm sure the list can be much bigger
