I've ridden in a stock KA car and heard/sat-in an SR20 car. Both S14s.

The KA is fairly gruff sounding, but gives you a good kick in the *** in terms of torque. They're actually sturdy motors, with a block girdle and forged this-or-thats, which is why they're great for forced induction.

The SR sounds smooth by comparison. It dosen't have the instant kick of the KA, from what I've been told. If you have a dead stock SR, it's not going to be too impressive, but the SR guy I talked to had an HKS turbo upgrade, exhaust and boost controller. He said he does miss the low end whack of the KA, but the kick at 3000rpm when his turbo spools makes up for it.
