Tach won't work-wiring help please

I just changed out my KA24E for a DE from a 1993, and it runs great and everything works except my tach. I was going to just wait until the RB20 showed up but at $2.38 a gallon with my other vehicle-a suburban...well it wasn't working. When I installed the engine I used the De harness and ecu, and then cut and spliced my dash plug to the DE harness and matched the colors. I have 2 wires left coming out of the ecu, and 6 wires left from the dash. None of the colors match up, anyone know which goes to what? My car is a 89 with a 93 DOHC in it now.

I think it might be easier to just get the DOHC dash with a little bit of the wiring and put it in complete. Especially since the rb20 isn't gonna work on the SOHC dash

Ok, here is what I can tell you off the top of my head.....

I believe that your cluster tach wire is yellow and blue. I am unsure of the color from the 93, but I will look into it for you.

Check the back of the cluster, all the pins are labelled. That is how I connect the stuff for the R33 gauges when I do those. If everything is working, and you have the yellow and blue wire hooked up, you got a ground that isnt connected.

I'll have a look thanks, if it doesn't work it's not the end of the world I'll have the RB in there in a few months anyway.

That wont work with your KA tach either....

The tach signal should be the only A/C signal in the entire car, so set up you voltmeter for A/C and see if you can locate a wire from I believe .7 to 7.0 volts with the engine running...either yellow and red or yellow and blue I believe.

what did you do when you swapped the RB as far as the tach? Did you use the skyline cluster, or just the tach?

I used the whole Skyline cluster....

Here are some pictures of it.

If you want help with this route, I can help you with that also, since the RB20 is a cable tach and the KA is electrical you will probably want the RB cluster
