Yu must mean 1/8 mile
go to www.hinsonsupercars.com

click on media and look for the gold Ingen FD

to the left, there is a link to a video called "Compilation Video:Racing"

right click on the video link and watch the end of the video.

You may be right, but either way, LS1,2,6 or 7 is better than KA. Hell even the cast iron LSX block is 60 lbs lighter, which is sad to say but, I'll be ddropping a vette LS1 in my S14.

how much does an "RB" motor cost?
How much does a nice turbo kit, tune, full turbo back exhaust system cost?

My small block cost $700 rebuilt, the headers, $88, the mufflers were $12 a piece, the intake was $50. The carb was free. I have a $862 motor sitting in my 70 nova that my roommate just totaled,

Now, should i spend $1k+ on a small garrett t3/t4 turbo setup , then buy an RB, then buy the 240sx itself, then get all the tuning done, end up spending about i dunno, $7-10k

or should i find a $500 automatic 240sx with no mtr/trns, and drop my 240hp, 300ftlb v8 into it? Hm..i'm thinking fabrication (by my friend) will cost a total of $600 or so. Thats motor/trans mounts and then i will have a driveshaft made. So $2500 v8 240sx making over 300hp, or $8k for a car making the same power but much less torque.

I think i have it figured out. lol. Plus it'll **** all the nissan lovers off

I did all that....thats why I said it was a 1/8 mile. There is nothing wrong with putting a v8 in a 240 in my opinion!

Sorry to burst ur bubble bud... an RB swap will cost 10K in labor if you want it done right. Theres a lot of custom work needed in order to get the RB to fit right to be as best weight balance wise. The price your looking at for lets say an RB25, thats about 2500 for the front clip and most of the hardware needed for this swap. and if your looking to do turbo and all the other fancy stuff, your total will be around just over 10K in parts. Add another 10K for labor and your set. Please note, 20K does not include the car itself.

As for using the '70 small block... I would check with your local BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair) department and see if you are allowed to do such a swap. In CA, the motor must be same year or newer, use that motor's production years OBD system and pass smog. It also must be sold in the USA in a car, cannot be from a truck (unless a car used the same engine).

Yes I spoke with a CA referee for about 2 hours asking every single question possible about engine swaps. Any CA 240 members can ask away, I'll give you wut the referee gave me LOL.

Thumbs up Whats Wrong With A V8

I HAVE A 93 240SX WITH AN LS1 AND WE ARE ABOUT TO COMPLETE A 98 240SX WITH AN LS7 MOTOR, THE 93 HAS A 6SPEED MAN, THE 98 WILL FEATURE THE NEW GM 6 SPEED AUTO.THE 98 WAS MUCH HARDER TO BUILD ONLY BECAUSE OF THE AUTO TRANNY, THESE CARS ARE AMAZING WITH A V8. CARS ARE MADE TO BE IMPROVED.

NismoNight start a thread on this. I know Luke went through Hinson for his motor swap on the FD. Anyways I'm closing this thread it is super ancient since back in early 2003, we are now in 2007 and I don't see one old original member of this thread being online or posting.. There is to much garbage and crap talking to dig through to find good info on swapping.
It's time to update, new forum, new thread...

Damn at least I wanted to close it, I guess Brian will have too....This thread has got to go....

I've seen a lot of success with this setup in a s13. My friend Eli (GM master tech and LS guru) runs redstarperformance.net. He sponsors my friend Erin's s13 drift car powered by a LS1. With a ls6 cam and valvespring setup he put down roughly 340 with a very mild tune using the HP Tuner software. As for the balance of the car it's not much more different than his previous SR swap.
I was considering doing a ls2 swap myself in r32 gt-s chassis, before I left Top Hat. Here's a link of the red star performance drift car in action.

Just go and check out Brian's website and check out the shock drifting performance web site. More than enough info there. And if you want to hear how an LS1 powered FD sounds like check out Luke's myspace page:

Watch the video of his LS1FD, I dream of my ride to sound like this one day...

The 5.6 Endurance will not fit, it is way too tall to be properly installed. The throttle body will stick out past the hood about 6 - 8 inches. On top of which, there is only an auto tranny built for that beast of a motor. And if you tried to drop that tranny in, good luck, the tunnel needs to be increased in size by a HUGE amount. The only thing that comes close to handling the power is the 2JZ 6 spd getrag tranny. But you will need a custom bell housing adaptor plate and a custom built clutch kit. This is not feasable at all, unless your RICH.

And to all the guys asking for info on LSx kits, please read through the whole thread before asking. Not only myself but many other members have given out Brian's website more than a few times. If you didnt see it, go back.

Im a nice guy, but if you dont read all the way through, please dont ask. Others would have come in and flamed you for not looking / reading before you asked.

Another site you can look on is www.sdp-online.com

My last time reposting info already out there.
