weird swap related tach problem

Hey, i've searched quite a bit for this but, i can't find it anywhere so here goes. Recently i completed an sr swap in a 92 coupe. All the wiring was done according to heavy throttle's guide. The problem is now i dont get a tach signal to the dash or the ecu. I have a rev speed meter that taps into the rpm signal wire and nothing.
Ok, now the weird part. When I remove the alternator fuse i get rpm to my rsm but, not my tachjavascript:smilie('')
Dunno has any one ever heard of something like this or dealt with something like this. It's driving me crazy.

Please Help!!

p.s. the tach and rsm worked b4 the swap.

i fixed the problem with the aftermarket tach. I used the wire that gets spliced into the ka plug that qoes up into the dash. I get a signal now. Woo Hoo!!

wait so how did you do this again...i still haven't done it? You went from the Sr harness directly, instead of off the ka harness??
