yes this is another rb25 question... muhaha

hey seriously though, i dont think this has been asked or really answered, but heres the question

If im buying a mckinney mount kit + custom driveshaft, and going aftermarket front mount ic, would going with a motorset be a better choice, ive never done a swap so im sure there are a lot of little things that you can get from the clip that id have to go buy somewhere but whats the main advantages of buying a clip if mainly what im using is what id' get with a motorset, and everything else will be scrapped (minus gauge cluster and stuff i guess)

another question is wiring, if all that is needed is extending of a few wires then i think i can handle that pretty well, but what about getting the speedo, tach, etc working... i don't want anything not to work in my car when its all said and done, including cruise control, a/c, everything, it may cost but if im doing it im doing it right... so for the 2 guys on here who have done the swap id like to hear from you guys, this is going in an s14 btw so im sure its a little different.

-thanks and if someone tells me the search button is my friend imma slap them lol

Ok ill try to help ya out a lil, If you can get a motor set that comes with ECU, full UNCUT wiring harness, Ign. chip, PS pump, starter, alternator, MAFS and of course the engine and the trans. I can think of anything else..
Ive done almost all the engine bay wiring and it wasnt very hard at all..havent started on the gauge cluster wiring just yet cus im waiting for a gauge cluster from a R32. It shouldnt be all that hard. Its great that your doing your own work, its the best way to learn about cars

That would help a lot of people..espically with the big boom on RB swaps lately. I was ganna do a RB20 write up but i dont think im the best candidate for that ahah

so am I reading this right or the regular 240sx gauge cluster wont work with the rb25? I'm debating between the rb and the sr seems like the rb would be more fun, but then a bit more customization.
If one of you could list the cost of their swap once done.. it would be sweet! thanks.

If you have a 89-90 240, ur tach wont work. If you have a 91-98 240 then your stock gauge cluster will work perfectly. Now for prices..ive listed prices a couple times before. ill list em anyways haha
RB25 clip = 3900 (including shipping)
Custom driveshaft = 400
Extra "just in case money" = 700

So over all IF you dont get a shop to isntall it for you and u do ur own wiring, it will cost ya around 5k. The extra money is there just incase u need to replace parts like belts or radiator or water pump. If you choose to let a shop install it for ya, add on a extra 1300. Hope that helped ya, and remember to search before you post

if you are going with the front mount IC Greddy makes a forward facing intake manifold that is specifically for the RB25 Mckinney used it on there car. nice piece but would make front mount easy and then no hood triming necessary not to mention keeping the intake pipe from crossing over a hot engine

Like Hyjnx said, if you can get all that crap in the motorset...go for it. Less of a hassle. But at th esame time, if the prices are close, you have more of a chance gettign aftermarket goodies on a motorset. I prefer the clips for dumb reasons....like I got an ASSLOAD of wiring from the chassis and dash. Came in handy later. I would only get a RB or any motorset for that matter from a reputable importer. Maybe Heavy Throttle and Enjuku and Phase2...thats about it. Do any of them do RB stuff. I know Heavy throttle only did Sr20 right.............
