240SX OR AE86???? Please help!!

Hello Everyone!
Well I want to get into the drift scene as you may have already guessed.

I was in the drag scene, I just sold my Rx-7, it was a '89 Turbo II, I blew the motor, all this after putting 2 years and $8,000 into her for aftermarket. I was in the prosess of changing the car over to a drift setup and away from drag, and thats when I blew the motor. So I figure if I want drift I better do it right.

So here is the question!!! GT-S hatch? Or 240sx?

I will be using it for solo racing, scca racing, and drifting. I'm not looking for sheer speed, just good handling and torque(through aftermarket) and a farily easy car to drift. I don't know a whole lot about the 240, but what models have LSD?

I hope you guys can help me figure all this out,

Nissian, or Toyota?

thanx,
-Matt

Hell, I say get a 240. You could get an s13 hatch or coupe, and the only models of s13's that have lsd are the ones with hicas

Get which ever you want. A GTS is hard as hell to find, let alone in good condition. IMO the 240 would be a better choice if you don't really care, because there's a lot more of them and they're newer.

man do like me and get both , hehe.. the 86 is a veryyyy funnnn car to drive and to work on.. but it'll get jst as costly as a 240sx b/c the 86 will need maintenance then it will need the goodies to make it quicker.. so it's a trade off bc the nissan parts will cost more.. but man lemme tell you.. learnin onna low hp car will do you wonders.. makes you a lil more technical and teaches you how to preserve your speed.. but then again.. you might be really good so it's a matter of taste and how much money you got and want to spend.. but lemme tell you.. i dont think i'll sell my 86 anytime soon.. good luck

If you are really planning on racing it in SCCA or any series for that matter you would want to find out what classes these cars run in and what other cars you will be competing with. I dont think that they are both in the same class at all, the 240 even with its more sophisticated suspension and more power than the AE86 may be a far less competative car than the AE86 if it has to run in a higher class.

When you post in a 240SX forum "what should i get, 240SX or this other car", just take a wild guess on what the favorite will be. And considering most people on these boards havent seen the best (and worst) of both worlds, the decision is obviously biased.

thats why i tried to give my opinion on both cars. since i do own both.. and about the classes and competativeness of the cars.. i know that the ae86 is in dsp.. and it used to be in fsp.. it moved to dsp after Taka Aono.. whooped everyones *** by like 3 seconds in a ae86 coupe.. ofcourse he was the only 86 that was that fast but it's ok i'm not mad.. as far as competing against everyone at the track (which is what i do) it does ok even against big hp cars b/c it's so nimble.. man this is a kinda messed up question.. just go on club4ag.com and read everything you can about the car .. then read everything you can on the 240.. it's your choice.. theres no chance in any of us really helpin you make a choice.. peacee

as far as i know, corollas were just for people getting to and from the grocery store (i may be wrong)

at least the 240 has some sports car in it. it was meant to do the things we do with it.

idk, just MO i guess.

i don't know too much about the AE86 tho.

the corolla is a grocery getter.. the ae86 is a corolla.. get my drift.. the corolla gts from 84-87 ( usa) is a good learner car.. but rare and gettin pricey.. just get a 240 unless you can find some old lady wit an ae86 in her garage
