Bad Starter???

I think i have checked everything and i think it is a bad starter but i just wanted to make sure. The charge on the battery from the + terminal to the - terminal is good and the charge from the + terminal to the - ground is good. All the electronics work fine inside the car but when I try and start my car there is just a clicking sound coming from the starter. I figure it just needs a jump so i hook my moms car up to mine and its just clicking still. I can pop the clutch and the car runs fine. Am i right or is there something im missing.

Thanks

it could be your starter, sometime taping on it with a hammer will get it to work for a while longer. but once you start the car take it to a near by parts store and have them check your alt. and battery. the battery may have sufficient volts and but not enough amps.

when you jump start it, let it sit a while. get your battery tested, to see if its holding a charge. get your alternator tested, to make sure its charging the battery. if your battery checks out, and has power, then worry about the starter.

haha, you beat me to it. lol.

well, generally speaking, a click when you start is a bad battery, and with free testing at places, its really the best solution. why spend money on somethign if you dont know if you need it or not.

Ignition key switch could also be bad..... the reason I installed a push button. Could also be the starter relay. Before I did the button, I replaced the relay. It helped for about 2 days.

I should add. A quick way to just check the starter is to jump it at the solenoid. If it starts the car(turns over), then you know your starter is good. Check ALL the battery connections. Not just for tightness. But for rusting around grounds, ect..

When i tried to jump start it I let it charge for a good 10 or 15 minutes but the only thing that happen was the clicking got faster, and i have checked and wire brushed all the connections I could think of. I guess I am going to take it off and get it tested. Is it just bolts that hold the starter to the tranny?(I have never really messed with a starter before)

I tried what Project Cheap13 said, jumping at the solenoid, and it didnt start but there was a whineing sound coming from the starter and now when i try to start it with the key it dosent even click anymore. So is the starter toast?

I took my starter out and got it tested and they said it worked but was weak so I said what the heck and got it rebuilt. My gf's dad knew a guy and the guy took it apart and said it was fine and put it back together. So i put it back in my car hooked up the batt to the starter(forgot to pug in the solenoid) and when i connected the negitive terminal on the batt, the starter started spinning(not cranking the engine just sounded like it was spinning) even without the key. i have no idea how that happened, could the guy who took it apart put it back together wrong?
