Battery Relocation
yea im wanting to do this cus if you have a front mount intercooler for a sr20 the pipe comes right up where the battery is... my two friends with the sr 240's are running lawn mower batteries. LOL . they cant have a stareo or anything, and i need my stereo so i will probly put the battery in the back.
if you relocate your battery to the trunk, do you have to run all the wires to the trunk or is there a way to set up a post in the engine bay to hook stuff up to, that runs to the batt in the trunk? My friend has an m3 and it's battery is in the trunk stock, but he has a + and - post under the hood, which would make hooking up my HID's, amplifier, and head unit amplifier up, along with my other electrical goodies
yea i dont know much about that... if you have no reason to put the battery in the back then dont do it. More money to spend and more hasel. Then again thats the fun in things. So haha do it.
And that kill switch thing is weird. I never heard of it before. I mean i have a kill switch in my 240 hidden that cuts off the alternator so you cant start the car unless thats in the on position even if you have the key. Sometimes i get drunk and hit it and then wonder in the morning why my car wont start hehe. But i never heard of the switch on the outside of the car.

the reason i want to do this is because it's about that time for me to get a new battery, so i was thinking why not buy the relocation kit along with it and just put it in the trunk...it offsets the weight and i plan on doing the sr20 swap with FMIC down the road anyway...
the easiest way to do this is go to an audo shop and buy an anl fuse holder with a 200 amp anl fuse...hook the wires that are now going to your positive battery post to one side of the fuse and the other side will go to the battery in the trunk... you only need to run the power wire... i would suggest 4 gague at the least but 0 gague if you are smart... secure the wire that is on your negitive battery post to a good ground in the engine compartment... and then secure the negitive battery cable in the trunk to a good ground there as well...
with the anl fuse holder in the engine compartment you can hook up any components to that or other fuse holders comming off of that one... no need to run everything to the trunk...

I was surfing around for this same topic and the "switch" guy took kinda a beating, so here is an article i saw that same thing in.

"Next up… the battery! We had previously relocated the battery to the trunk, with the recent trip to the drag strip we quickly learned that NHRA rules require a cut off switch that is located on the rear of the car and is accessible from the outside. The thought of drilling a large hole and mounting a large red switch on the back of the car did not sit well, time to change to a smaller light-weight battery and mount it up front..."

I have my battery in the trunk, dose give off gas stinks too, but my altinator was burning the battery. I got a battery box and it's tied down with Nylon straps with the relocation kit. I have 2 kills one for the starter in the car which dosn't really do much if the car was on, more for security, the fuel pump switch is in the trunk ...
