If you pay to get it done be there when it is done. Watch the guy. Take notice to what tools he uses. Take notice to any strange techniques he uses. Discuss what you saw here. We will fill in any blanks and get you to the point where you can do this yourself.

Are any of your friends modding their cars? It is always a good thing to go with them to watch the mechanic. You will learn that way also.

You need to learn how this job is done. That way you can question shoddy work.

I had a set of tires installed on my car friday night. The installer did not seat the bead on my rear tire correctly. I noticed it before he dropped my car off the lift.

You are have to be the last person to check over their workmanship. You will be the one to get hurt if their work is not up to snuff.

ok...
are you just replaceing shocks or want to lower..
if u are just replacing shocks..
u are fine with just getting the front 2..
if u want lowered replace everything..
also.....
labor... that is a lot of money right there..
where do u live?

why not ask some ppl how to do this install and learn urself..
u really cant screw up your suspenion...
they can only go a certain way...
but i recomend getting teins..
wait a little while and get them..
and then install them urself..
you will be sooo happy

And even happier once they are broken in and you finally get to turn up the dampening. I finally started screwing with mine this past weekend.

I dont plan to do any kinda autocrossin or drag racing .. Just aggressive street driving .. Do you think that I would need coil overs , or would KYB AGX do the job just fine ..

I am also thinking twice about lowering as the road here suck big time .. Too many bumps inside the school campus and I am worried about scrapping my undercarriage at some point in time ..

So if I am not considering lowering cos of the above reasons, would stock springs+AGX be the best setup or do you guys still suggest getting new springs even if not lowering ...

Get the shocks and springs. You will not hurt your pocket and you will be able to pay for gas to screw around on the roads.

Go a little lower and stiffer. Get some gas shocks. They don't need to be adjustable if the roads are bad and you don't think you will be screwing with them much.

definitely get new lowering springs and shocks. No doubt. the road can't be as bad as here in NYC and all of the NYC ImportFanatix 240s have dropped our cars, just gotta be careful that's all. and if you keep the stock springs you don't need new ones. but get new eibach sportlines and agx's and you'll be a happy camper. No one wants to have a 4x4.

Ok Guys ... I am sorta convinced (almost there..) that I should lower my car ...

What kinda drop do you guys have ... I guess it is also absolutely essential to get the camber correction kit and re-align .. The alignment shop near my place refuses to align lowered cars ... And his argument is that it is quite difficult to get the car back to factory specs .. I should be able to find another shop that might do the job ..

And in terms of performance , if I dont plan to screw around with the struts that much is it fine to stick with GR-2's .. I guess malice has that setup .. Is there too much of a difference between GR-2 and a AGX on a comparable stiffness setting for the AGX ...

Most people stick with the 1.5 inch drop.

I am in a bad spot with my coilovers. I like the way the car looks as it is now but I think I will end up having to raise it an inch or so.

The rear coils do not have the helper springs on them so the rear is going to be pushed up a bit.

You cannot drop you car too low. I have found out that I was getting away with murder with my old tires. The old tires were bald to the point that I didn't rub them on my fender linings. I have new tires now and a rub when I take hard turns.

I think I am going to have to get something with a lower sidewall or raise the car.

Stay with the aftermarket springs. You will be able to keep you stock sized tires and not run into any other problems.

well i hear nothing but good things about the agx's. i would honestly have gotten them if i had about $250 more.. they arent cheap... when i asked about other shocks, he was quick to mention gr2's which alot of people know about as well but dont prefer.... well i got the gr2's cause i know someone who has them with kgmms, and he likes them. i rode in his car and its really good.... since im not that picky about my ride as much ... i would say go with gr2's and definitely sportlines... but if u got the extra loot go for the agx's, but if u got alot of loot get coils man.. and u can ask stan for more info on that... but most people here have springs, cause roads in ny suck *****....
