chain

My 240 has been idling irregular for the past couple days. I took out the aiv like recommended by some. It didnt fix the problem. I opened the hood this morning and i hood a small sscrapping like sound coming from the engine. I recently fixed nd put in new parts for the bottom timing chain so it cant be that. But when i put it back together the top chain was a lil loose but i left it because when i cranked the engine it would tighten by oil pressure. JW if it is the top timing chain that could be causing my problem.

did u not just read what i wrot at all lol i did have to fix the bottom it had no guide it was in pieces in the oil tank and the tensioner for that was shot had to buy a new one. The top was fine at the time but a lil loose at a certain spot when u cranked the engine i thought it was ok because it would tighten right after because of the pressure. Is that normal for the top thats all i wanna know?!?!?!

...once again its your top tensioner.

240's have a problem with the top tensioner getting loose,a nd after awhile just not working well, thus leading to bigger problems.
